Harvest Season

Mmmmm, it is Fall. This is one of my favorite times of year. Coming home this past Friday on the train for Thanksgiving weekend I got to sit back and enjoy the view of the trees changing colours and houses decorated with pumpkins, gords and husks.

This weekend really showed me how thankful I am. As always I got to have a wonderful time bonding with my mom. We did our favourite thing to do together after dinner Friday night...go to Chapters! We love to grab a couple cooking and home decorating magazines and sit and look at one together and discuss what we like and what we don't like. We discovered that we have very similar tastes when it comes to home decorating.

The next day started with some joyous homework and meeting a friend for coffee. It was so great to see my friend Theresa and catch up on life. I can honestly say that God is doing alot in me and on Queen's campus and I am so honoured to be part of his plan.

Our afternoon continued with a trip to New Vision, a nice little drive in the country and then a little snack of Roasted Red Pepper hummus and pitas (YUMMY).

Later on that evening I decided that I needed to tell my mom something that I was desperately afraid to tell her. See lately God has been showing me that my desire to be a teacher is not something I can say I have a desire to do right at this time, but had no idea how I was going to tell my mom that one. So I decided to come right out and tell her that I want to join staff with Campus for Christ.

When I told her she was a little quiet and here I am thinking "shoot, what the heck did I just do?" but she then began talking and asking questions. She asked me things that mom's generally ask about a career (ie. what is the pay like...etc) and I told her what she needed to know. After presenting the idea to her, she gave me her blessing. She told me that she doesn't care what I do with my life as long as I am happy. She then proceeded to tell me that she prays for me daily about what God would have me to do in the future and that He would guide me in all my ways! This is HUGE to hear from your mom who is not serving the Lord! I immediately burst into tears, all I want is for my life to be fully used by God to establish His kingdom and to hear my mom pray for his will...gah! Words cannot describe.

This is just part of how I have seen God at work lately. God is at work at Queen's University and it is amazing to be a witness to that (if you want to know more I can email you an update). But what I can say is that people are hungry for God and we have seen God work when we humble ourselves and pray. Seeing him at work makes me want to continue to humble myself before him so I do not limit him but allow him to work through me so people can see who Jesus really is.
