Ramadan

A little late coming, but be in prayer for Muslims as Ramadan has just begun (Aug 11, 2010)

A few facts (Source: Crescent Project)
-Since Islam is a works-based belief, Muslims believe that they will be closer to God during Ramadan.
-By fasting, they are earning good works to help tip the scale in their favor in order to gain acceptance to heaven, their good works must outweigh the bad.

-35 Canadians recently converted to Islam, sponsored a Muslim organization and won a trip to Mecca
-Muslims believe that a trip to Mecca erases their sins committed up to that point
-During Ramadan even more followers of Islam in Canada and around the world will be seeking to earn God's favour rather than freely receiving it through God's gift of Himself in Christ

Biblical response to fasting (Source: Crescent Project)
In Acts 13:3, the disciples fasted as a complement of prayer and of clarity of God's will. Fasting is a time to reflect on the Lord and to focus on His will and voice. It is also a time where the power of prayer can be enhanced in your life or the lives of others.
